From the Editor

Hello and welcome to the first issue of The Woodlands Outdoor Pulse! We’re here to bring you closer to the trails, trees, animals, and neighbors that make this community so special. In each issue we’ll share local nature highlights, outdoor events, and other inspiring resources — all rooted in the natural outdoor beauty of The Woodlands, Texas.

Each issue will highlight information in the following four categories:

  • Nature Notes: Facts about our local ecosystem.

  • Park Pockets: Information about local trails, parks, and greenspaces, and how to interact with them.

  • Community Corner: Outdoor or nature-focused events happening in and around our community.

  • Adventure Activities: Kid-friendly outdoor and nature activities, and printables.

Whether you’re hiking the trails in the George Mitchell Preserve or enjoying coffee on your deck, this is your pulse on outdoor life here at home.

Creature Feature: Owls

As the sun goes down in The Woodlands, quiet hunters take to the sky—discover the amazing owls that live right here in our community in this month’s Nature Note.

Location: 5171 Flintridge Dr.

Length: ~ 3 miles of loop trails

Highlights: towering loblolly pines and quiet creek crossings; great spot for family walks and trail runs.

Art in The Woods!

"Art in The Woods" is an outdoor, monthly art market featuring the works of 20+ local artists in collaboration with Ardest Gallery!!

Each art market is held on the 3rd Saturday of the month, between September and April, with the exception of our December holiday market which is held on the 2nd Saturday.

Adventure Activity

DIY Backyard Bug Safari!

Go on a bug hunt with your kids — why do you think you can’t find all the bugs in your backyard? Pick one bug to learn more about. Research it online or find a book at the library.
